Background

Alex Yip received his bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from University of New South Wales, Australia in 2003.  He continued his masters research in Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, studying the application of photo-Fenton catalyst for organic pollutant remediation via advanced oxidation processes.  In 2009, he received his PhD from the same institute on a research project using a catalytic architecture composed of Titanium Silicalite-1 (TS-1) and nanostructured clay support for oxime synthesis.  Alex joined the department in 2011 after his postdoc appointment at University of California, Berkeley.  He is interested in micro/mesoporous material synthesis and catalysis, specifically on environmental applications and conversion of biomass to transportation fuels.
