The Bioprocess & Biomolecular Engineering Research Group carries out research in engineering science, fermentation, environmental biotechnology and development of technologies associated with the purification and modification of biomolecules.

Biomolecular Interactions Centre

The Group is a founding member of the Biomolecular Interactions Centre (BIC), founded 2007 and supported by Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc, Hercules California. The BIC involves researchers from Chemical & Process Engineering, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Lincoln University, The University of Otago's Christchurch School of Medicine and Crop&Food Research. BIC is one of two premier research institutes within the University of Canterbury.
